Janeiro, detta anche "la città meravigliosa", io Andrea
Moraes, mio fratello Antonio e mia madre Sandra Moraes.
Ci siamo trasferiti in Italia quindici anni fa. Un bel
giorno mi sono ritrovata a fare il punto della situazione. Spirito
ribelle da sempre, ma anche una sognatrice, ho trovato il mio cammino
trasformando una passione in "lavoro". Infatti mi riesce difficile
definirlo un "lavoro", perché ho la grande fortuna di fare
ciò che mi piace insieme alle persone che amo: la mia
famiglia.
Ho iniziato con mio fratello, un giorno sono andata da lui e gli ho detto: "Ti ricordi quando da bambino ti chiamavo vela (candela in Portoghese), bene credo che tutto abbia un disegno divino o almeno mi piace crederlo... perché noi da oggi faremo candele, ti va?", e lui che come tutti noi è nato e cresciuto alla luce delle candele ma che solo da poco aveva imparato ad apprezzarle mi ha detto: "Si, ok! Ma come si fanno?" e così ci siamo messi a ridere dicendoci "Lo impareremo" e da lì non ci siamo più fermati...
Si può proprio dire che le candele siano il simbolo ed il segno della nostra esistenza.
Abbiamo iniziato facendo semplicemente candele, provando e riprovando, e soprattutto imparando dai nostri errori.
Poi la vita, per una serie di eventi, ha portato anche nostra madre a lavorare con noi. La sua presenza ci ha reso più forti, è lei che ci dà la forza ed un giusto equilibrio tra amore e disciplina. Ed è proprio nostra madre a preparare le "basi" sulle quali poi noi scateniamo tutta la nostra fantasia.
Oggi, dopo tante esperienze, la cera ci scorre nelle vene insieme a tutta la nostra passione... è tanta la gente che lo racconta, tutti coloro che hanno avuto la fortuna di seguire le nostre evoluzioni, la nostra continua metamorfosi...passanti che restano meravigliati dalle nostre opere, che condividono con noi le emozioni provate accendendo o regalando una nostra candela e nel fare ciò rivivono e ricreano ogni volta la nostra storia.
Siamo un triangolo di energia pura e questo ci ha permesso di raggiungere un livello creativo eccezionale, fluido, che passa anche dalla continua evoluzione delle nostre tecniche, la ricerca di materie prime che uniamo alla cera.
E poi ci sono i profumi ed i colori che provengono dalla nostra passione per i viaggi, i quali miscelandosi creano sfumature e giochi di luce come vite vissute attraverso i nostri viaggi !
Ed è stato proprio durante una delle nostre ricerche che ci siamo imbattuti nel ferro, un elemento che abbiamo iniziato a lavorare attraverso un artista napoletano, Antonio Lavorgnia, con il quale è nata una sinergia creativa molto interessante. Sinergia che trova forma anche nel riciclo di pezzi trovati per strada. E oggi lavoriamo tutti insieme appassionatamente in questo quartiere fatto di tanti artisti come noi, dando vita alla nostra passione.
We are Brasilian, from Rio de Janeiro, also known as "the marvellous city", me, Andrea Moraes, my brother Antonio and my mother Sandra Moraes.
We moved to Italy fifteen years ago. One day I found myself thinking about my life. I've always been a rebel but also a dreamer, and this probably helped me to find my way, to transform my passion into a "job".
At the same time though it's very hard for me to call it a "job", because I have the great fortune of doing what I love with the people I love: my family.
I began with my brother, one day I told him: "Do you remember when you were a child and I used to call you vela (Portuguese word for candle), well I believe everything has a superior design or at least that is what I like to think... because from now on we are going to make candles, are you with me?", and he, who like all of us was born and brought up by candlelight and only recently had learned to appreciate them, said: "Yes, ok! But how do we make them?", and so we burst out laughing saying: "We'll learn" and never stopped since...
We could really say that candles are the symbol and sign of our existence.
We began by simply making candles, trying and trying, and above all learning from our mistakes.
Then our mother, due to a series of events, also joined us. Her presence has made us stronger, she gives us strength and a right balance between love and discipline. And it's our mother who makes the raw matter on which we then free all our imagination.
Today, after many experiences, we have wax running through our veins with all our passion... many people can tell of our passion, all those who have had the fortune of following our evolution, our continuous metamorphosis... passers-by who are struck by our works, who share with us the emotions felt by lighting up or giving our candles as gifts, these people live and recreate our story each time.
We are a triangle of pure energy and this has given us the chance to reach an exceptional and fluid creative level, that passes through our continuous evolution of our technique and the research of materials to be added to wax.
And then there are the scents and the colours coming from our passion for travel, added to wax they give life to light effects and different shades, like lives lived through our travels!
And it was during one of our researches that we encountered iron, an element we have started working on thanks to Neapolitan artist Antonio Lavorgnia, giving life to a very interesting creative synergy. A synergy that means also recycling materials found on the streets. Today we all passionately work together in this district of artists like us, giving life to our passion.
